The second round of the Explore Series (it used to be the Sunday League) was held at Hexham on 3 April 2016. In a long but enjoyable afternoon, 10 open crews and 9 women's crews battled for points, one per win (every crew raced 4 times).

Two open crews got max (4) points - our own Fog on the Tyne (pictured above) and the Chester Cheetahs. In the women's event, home crew Hexellent were the only max scores.

So after this round, in the open league overall it was close, with Fog on the Tyne and Chester Cheetahs each with 7 points, a clear 4 points ahead of =3rd placed crews Great HexPexStations
and TURC That!. Berwick Amateur Rowing Club's team Barc'in Mad took their first point in the club’s first ever time taking part!

In the women's league (with no Tyne representation) it was much closer with only 2 points separating the top 5 teams after this round. Tynemouth RC's The Gulls of Tynemouth held equal top spot on 6 points with Durham ARC's Wear Here whilst joint 3rd are 2 more DARC teams each on 5 points. Hexham RC's team "Hexcellent" came top of the day though with 4 points putting them in 5th and still only two points off top spot.

The next round is at Tees RC on 1 May 2016, which is the skills head.  See the Northern Rowing online website
