This is the squad for those men of a certain age (younger than you think) and who cannot keep up with the Senior Men’s Squad and its punishing schedule. This is where skill and experience can count for more than sheer fitness and brute strength.
The squad is both a broad tent and a moveable feast. In the past in practice there have been a number of crews that have come together then sometimes moved apart again over a season, without much contact between them.
However, in the current 2009-10 season we have been trying to ensure that we mix-and-match a lot more, so that everybody gets a good row every week and that we don’t get too set in our ways and bad habits. We also participate in club-wide fitness and conditioning sessions.
Our main organised water sessions are Thursday evening from 6.00 pm onwards (even in the dark in the winter) and Saturday mornings. There is rowing at other times as people wish.
The coordinator for the Veteran Men’s Squad is Graeme Wheeler, though he is standing down shortly as at June 2010. Contact him until you see a anew name here via the Contact Us page or as below.
