Tyne Head weather luck, with Tyne men fastest
The Tyne Head race went ahead on 27 February in glorious weather (compared with the preceding few days, anyway) and hopefully was enjoyed by all participants. 117 crews took part in two divisions. The fastest boat of the day was the Tyne RC senior men's IM2 eight with a time of 14:34:25. For some of the novice squad this was their first taste of a real competition, men in a novice eight and women in a coxed quad; not quite such a baptism of fire (or rather water) as in 2009!
